Fill the online application: personal details, passport number, and all Indian addresses in the past 10 years.
- 3
Pay the fee online — ₹500 (Normal) or ₹2,000 (Tatkaal) — and book an appointment at your nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).
- 4
Visit the PSK on your appointment date with all original documents. Biometrics and document verification done on the spot.
- 5
Police field verification is conducted at your last Indian address. For NRIs with no current Indian address, verification may be waived or done at a relative's address.
- 6
PCC is dispatched to your registered address or collected at the PSK depending on the office. Normal: 7–10 working days; Tatkaal: 3–5 working days.
- · NRIs currently abroad can apply at the nearest Indian Embassy, Consulate, or VFS Global centre — fee in local currency equivalent. Embassy/VFS processing takes 4–6 weeks (longer than domestic PSK) due to police verification being coordinated from abroad.
- · If your Indian address has changed since the passport was issued, carry additional address proof.
- · Tatkaal service is available only if you can show genuine urgency (visa interview, travel within 3 days).
