Calculate combined pension eligibility across India and your host country under India's Social Security Agreements
India has signed Social Security Agreements (SSA) with 19 countries, allowing NRIs to combine their contribution years across both countries to qualify for pension in either.
Example: Germany requires 5 years of contributions for pension. If you worked 3 years in Germany and 7 years in India, SSA lets you combine them (10 years total) — qualifying for pension in both Germany and India. Without SSA, your 3 German years would yield ₹0 pension.
SSA also provides a Certificate of Coverage (CoC): if your Indian employer temporarily posts you abroad, you can get a CoC from EPFO to avoid double social security contributions in the host country.
No SSA with the United States. US-India SSA negotiations are ongoing but not yet in force (2025). NRIs in the US contribute to both US Social Security (FICA) and EPFO with no totalization benefit currently. The tool covers countries where India's SSA is active.
